Hi, I’m laura
Accountant, profit strategist, educator & speaker
I believe who we are as a person shapes what we do so I’m going to tell you a little about me as a person.
I am a water loving, adventure seeking over-thinker living in the beautiful Herefordshire countryside. Living for breathtaking landscapes, finding good in the world and a passion for all things women’s health. An off-centre, music loving owner of 4 (yes 4!) dogs and many sheep and cattle.
I’ve had the privilege of working across local government, small to large privately owned businesses and non-profits in my career. What I’ve noticed is that finance and tax is often considered a matter of compliance that’s boring and doesn’t add value. When actually it is a thread that is entwined throughout an entire business and can really help us with decision making.
And that’s where I come in.
My approach
I have a holistic approach combining technical finance expertise with a deep understanding of the personal and professional challenges faced by female entrepreneurs.
I bring my values of integrity, empathy and freedom into my work, empowering women to take their business finance to the next level in a way that works for them. I take complex financial concepts and make them simple and easier to understand, boosting women’s financial knowledge and confidence.
I am a firm believer of ‘there are no silly questions’. We’re not taught finance and tax as standard so until you’ve learnt it, how would you know. And, there is a lot of accountancy and bookkeeping that isn’t actually logical so it can be understandably confusing to start with.
WHY choose me?
I’m a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), having qualified in 2016. I take part in regular continuing professional development in a variety of finance related topics to ensure my knowledge is always up to date. I’ve worked in finance and consultancy for over 12 years, run my own business and am actively involved in family businesses so I’ve seen a lot in the small business world.
I also hold a level 4 qualification in Leadership and Management from the Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM).
I transitioned into profit strategy and education because I had a desire to work more with women in a really impactful way and I don’t want women to feel scared of finance.
